Goodenough College celebrates The Patron’s Lunch

On Sunday June 12th 2016, more than twenty Goodenough College Members and staff had the unique privilege of attending The Patron’s Lunch. Held on The Mall, the event celebrated The Queen’s patronage of over 600 charities and organisations on the occasion of her 90th birthday.

The Queen has been our patron since 1953 and has visited on many occasions.

The Members attending, chosen by ballot, represented America, Brazil, Chile, China, Fiji, India, Iran, Italy, Malaysia and Mauritius.

College Director, Andrew Ritchie, said “It was a wonderful thing for us to be a part of this magnificent occasion. Our Members were delighted to come to The Mall to show thanks for Her Majesty's support, and encounter such a unique and typically British experience. It was a day to remember for a long time to come”.

A photograph of the group leaving for Buckingham Palace can be seen below.

The Director gathered with the rest of the Goodenough community in the Quad of London House to have their own celebrations. With the bunting out in full force, Members, Alumni and staff enjoyed a Grand Royal Tea Party with a Mad Hatter theme. As well as plenty of tea, cakes, games, drama and music, Karl Ludwig Rehse, Dressmaker to HM The Queen awarded prizes for the best hats, one of which can be seen below.
