The Goodenough College China Club and the Music Society hosted a joint event on Saturday October 8 at 6pm entitled 'When East Meets West' a special concert featuring our very own talented musicians, and China's highly regarded, award-winning youth choir, Nankai University Choir.
This one-off performance took place in the Great Hall at London House, Mecklenburgh Square in Bloomsbury, and featured many of Goodenough College’s resident musicians who are studying at all of London’s music schools, playing alongside the choir in this landmark event.
The Nankai University Student Choir bagged three gold medals and two championship titles at the Ninth World Choir Games in Sochi, Russia. The Chinese students won first place in the Scenic Folklore and Mixed Choir categories.
The evening represented the only appearance in London of this internationally recognised choir following a successful visit to Scotland.
Andrew Richie, Director of Goodenough College said:
“It was an honour and a privilege to welcome this wonderful Choir to Goodenough College. Our musicians are certain to benefit from the opportunity of playing with them. I’m sure that our members and guests will have a marvellous evening. “
