Goodenough College Celebrates Día de los Muertos

Goodenough College's Mexican members celebrated their great tradition of Day of the Dead by errecting an Altar de Muertos in reception in London House. Feturing photographs celebrating such varied personalities as David Bowie and our own founder Mr. Goodenough himself!

Day of the Dead altars are built during Día de los Muertos to honor the lives of those  beloved family and friends who have passed away. They are often quite beautiful creations, constructed with love and care with all the things the departed beloved ones really liked. Traditionally, families in Mexico build an altar on the days before November 1. The departed children (los angelitos), are remembered on November first while November second focuses on the departed adults.

Our event was attended by Director Major General Andre Richie and Chaplain Jennie Hogan, while our members bought their own photographs of loved ones to proudly display on the Altar. Our thanks to member Celeste Gonzalez Comacho for organising the special night and sharing her traditions with us here at Goodenough College.
