Sabbatical Accommodation FAQs
Rates do not include breakfast, however we offer a wide range of breakfast options from Continental breakfast to Full English breakfast for as little as £2.80 per five items. Breakfast is served daily in our picturesque Great Hall in London House.
Your room will be cleaned once a week - usually on the same day as your arrival day. The College is not a hotel and therefore rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis.
Yes, our Sabbatical accommodaton does have a TV and tea / coffee facilities inside the rooms.
You are also more than welcome to visit Freddie's Cafe / Bar, which is open every day until late should you wish to purchase food and drinks, where there are also televisions. You can also purchase breakfast and dinner daily in the Great Hall.
There are no iron and ironing boards in our Sabbatical accommodation but you are welcome to use the laundry rooms located in the College to do your own washing and ironing.
You can put in a request at the time of booking with the Reservations Team. Please note that while we will do our best to accommodate your request, we cannot guarantee a specific room will be available.
Please speak to Reservations if you would like to move rooms. There is a fee to move rooms, which covers the cost of cleaning (charged at £20.00 for single rooms and £35.00 for flats / double rooms). This is waived if there is a maintenance issue with the room which is prompting the need to move rooms. If you are moving rooms please bring your luggage down to Reception by 11am. Your new room will be available for you from 3pm.
Check out is at 11am.
If you need to depart any later than 11am, please contact Reservations by dialling 1566, 1567 or 1568 from your room telephone from Mon-Fri 8am-6pm.
Depending on availability, late check outs are chargeable. A half day fee will apply on check outs up until 2pm, and a full nights fee will apply for check outs later than 2pm.
The Mecklenburgh Square Garden is only for the use of Members and Alumni of the College. Unfortunately Sabbatical Guests are not allowed to access the Garden.
Guests who stay continuously for seven nights or more can book a camp bed for one guest to join them. This needs to be booked in advance with the reservations team. The additional cost for this is £10.00 per day – including linen. Visitors are allowed to stay for a maximum of two or three nights only and not for the entire duration. The prepayment is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
The majority of our activities and events are only for our Members. However, we do host a number of Port Talks at the College, which are open to all of our guests. Please see Reception for details of Port Talks being held during your stay.
Unfortunately not, the tickets for the College’s box at the Royal Albert Hall tickets are only for use by our full time Members.
Some of our favourite spots in the area:
Lamb’s Conduit Street is a partially pedestrianised street in bookish Bloomsbury, this is as civilised as shopping gets in our capital, and is good for a quick bite to eat/coffee.
Leather Lane is about 10 minutes away. Monday to Friday it is a bustling strip of market stalls with some designer cafes. ‘Department of Coffee and Social Affairs’ is worth a look!
Exmouth Market’s good for dinner/drinks. It’s refreshingly quiet – and Cafe Kick has bags of personality.
Three collections we love – all about a 15 minute walk away. FREE entry to all:
