Goodenough College and a recent Alumna shortlisted for top international awards

We are extremely proud to see Goodenough College and Claire Seaborn, one of our Alumna, named as finalists in the international PIEoneer Awards 2020.

In this year’s PIEoneer Awards the College is in contention for the Accommodation Provider of the Year award, and Claire is a finalist in the International Alumni of the Year category, which is open to recent Alumni.

Claire Seaborn was a resident of William Goodenough House from 2015-2016, during which time she gained internship experience focused on international law and studied to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. Over the past two years, she has been working as a senior policy and legal advisor at the Government of Canada, first to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, and presently to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.

Rebecca Matthews, Goodenough College Director, said:
“Goodenough College is very proud to be listed as a finalist in the Accommodation Provider of the Year award against international competition and it is wonderful to see Claire’s achievements recognised in the International Alumni of Year category.

“The accommodation award recognises providers who are able to create a mutually supportive and nurturing community for people from all nations and with a variety of needs. To reach the final we had to show that the College is achieving effective cross cultural integration, providing excellent pastoral and wellbeing services and delivering demonstrable benefits for our community. It is wonderful to be recognised for our achievements in these areas and for the efforts we have made to support the College’s Members throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Claire Seaborn, Goodenough College Alumna, said:
“I am grateful to the entire Goodenough College community for providing me with an open and nurturing environment in which to explore my academic, professional and personal interests at an early stage in my career. In my view, Goodenough College offers the most unique and enriching postgraduate accommodations worldwide.”

Finalists in the Awards are drawn from across the globe. The entries will be assessed by a distinguished geographically and professionally diverse panel of judges and the results will be announced on Friday 11 September.
