Goodenough College Founders’ Day

On Monday 4 October, Members, Alumni and Fellows gathered to celebrate the annual Goodenough College Founders’ Day.

On Founders’ Day the College community comes together to celebrate and remember the work of Frederick Craufurd Goodenough and his wife Maive, along with the other notable women, men and organisations who came together to found this remarkable College over 90 years ago.

Founders’ Day also marks the end of the College’s annual ‘Welcome Period’ and the first day of the Michaelmas (autumn) Term.

The vision of the College’s Founding Partners is captured jointly in the College motto Unitas in sapienta: nemo separabit – unity in wisdom: none shall separate.

The event included a ‘Proclamation and Installation’ of the College’s 2020 Fellows, a thanksgiving ceremony in the College Chapel and a reception in the Great Hall where guests were able to listen to the Founders’ Day Oration, given by College Director Alice Walpole.
