Goodenough Global Giving Day: It’s Here!

Today, 18 November, for the first time in its history, the College is embarking on a brand new, exciting way of raising awareness and funds to support this incredible institution. Goodenough Global Giving Day is a digital, 36-hour, fun giving challenge to bring the College's Alumni together as a community to demonstrate and celebrate their collective impact.

Over 36 hours on 18-19 November the College is asking its fantastic Alumni community to come together for the first Goodenough Global Giving Day.

Goodenough College has always provided a home for some of the brightest and best students from around the world, regardless of their means. But this year, due to COVID-19, the College is facing unprecedented financial pressures. With mounting losses, the College needs to focus its funds on core operational costs, which means there’s less to spend on Scholarships

Giving Day is a 36-hour celebration of connecting, remembering and giving. During the day the College is asking Alumni to “tune in” to enjoy exclusive content; to get back in touch with old friends and share memories; to share messages of support with current Members during these challenging times and to support future Scholars through giving a gift.

All gifts made on  Giving Day will go to support the Goodenough College Scholarship Fund – helping the next generation of talented postgraduates to achieve their dreams of studying in London.

Thanks to generous donors, the College has an amazing £50,000 Match Fund available throughout the Giving Day period. That means that every gift from the College’s Alumni and friends will be matched up to this amount pound for pound, so a £100 gift would be worth £200, and a £1,000 gift would be £2,000. During the Day there are a number of additional “challenges” planned; including five participation challenges where gifts will unlock extra funding to support the College’s Scholars.

It doesn’t matter how much individuals are able to give, Giving Day is about coming together as a community. During the day there are special events, topical Port Talks and a tour from the College Registrar, Caroline Persaud, showing hidden areas of the College.

The College would like to thank all those taking part as Goodenough Global Giving Day College Ambassadors, to early donors who have already pledged their gifts and to those planning to take part.

Alumni and friends can take part and follow the Giving Day journey through the College’s social media channels, by looking out for special emails and by visiting the special Giving Day webpage.
