David Turner
Bursar at The Burn
As Bursar of The Burn, David is responsible for all aspects of running the College’s Scottish estate as an academic retreat venue and student holiday centre. Reporting to the Director of Goodenough College, David leads a team of ten to provide a full range of hotel and hospitality services and to maximise The Burn’s potential as a sustainable business.
David joined the College after a successful military career spanning 32 years. Commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he initially served as an infantry officer and within the field of military logistics before qualifying as an Army Helicopter Pilot in 1983. He then spent 27 years in Army Aviation and completed his uniformed service as the Commander of Wattisham Flying Station and the UK Attack Helicopter Force.
David was appointed OBE in 2010 and is a Member of the City and Guilds Institute. He also holds an MBA from the Open University.
