Create a tribute page on MuchLoved – a new service for Alumni

Wherever we are in the world, 2020-21 has undoubtedly been an incredibly difficult period. Now many of us will be taking time for reflection. Something that is sure to come to mind are thoughts of our own and our loved ones’ futures and how we might like to remember, or indeed be remembered, after we have passed on.

So many loved ones have been lost this last year that it is difficult to maintain perspective, but, of course, each loss is keenly felt. There are some, however, who have the ability to unite us in grief. As a community, we were saddened to hear of the death of HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of our esteemed patron, Her Majesty the Queen.

We have been moved by the response from our Alumni community, many of whom shared their messages of support and memories of Prince Philip’s time at the College via the College’s commemoration page here The page is still open and we encourage you to leave your own messages of remembrance and condolence. We will be passing on the College’s contributions to the Palace.

Whilst this commemoration page is a special dedication to Prince Phillip, we hope it may inspire you to create your own tribute pages for those Alumni friends from your time at Goodenough you want to remember in a special way. We know our Alumni community is incredibly international which can make it difficult in the best of times, but especially now, to pay your respects when a friend passes away. Now, by creating a tribute page, you can take part in remembrance, offering your own personal condolences and fond memories.

The tributes you make can take the form of personal stories, photos, pieces of music, or even a fundraiser to make a memorial contribution in honour of your loved one. Many of you will have met your life-long friends, and possibly even a partner, at Goodenough and it may be fitting, when somebody close to you dies, to celebrate those connections through making a gift to ensure that the next generation of Goodenough Members will have the same opportunities that you did. To create a tribute go to MuchLoved, set up your tribute and connect it to the College’s MuchLoved profile when prompted.

In the coming months, we will be talking more about the importance of making a Will. Many people are unaware of the significant impact that leaving a Legacy makes, so we will also be developing some new materials to help show the impact leaving a gift in your Will can have and how you can do so with ease and confidence.

Help our Members by taking part in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon

We are looking for 10 members from within our community to take part in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon, running, walking or jogging to raise money for The Mecklenburgh Fund, which supports current Members in need. This is the first time we have ever invited our Alumni to run for us as part of the London Marathon, or any sporting event.

One of the great things about this year’s event is that participants can take part from anywhere in the world and complete the event in their own way – just as long as all 26.2 miles are completed on Sunday 3 October 2021. Find out more about the event and how to apply to take part for the College.
