The experiences shared and friendships forged while living at Goodenough College last a lifetime. More than 17,000 Goodenough Alumni live and work all over the world. Our Alumni belong to a network of the brightest minds; a community that is still growing, evolving and achieving remarkable things worldwide.

We’re looking for 10 members of our Alumni to take part in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon – running, walking or jogging anywhere in the world to raise money for the College’s Mecklenburgh Fund

Help our Members by taking part in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon

We are looking for 10 members of our Alumni to take part in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon, running, walking or jogging to raise money for The Mecklenburgh Fund, which supports current Members in need. This is the first time we have ever invited our Alumni to run for us as part of the London Marathon, or any sporting event.

One of the great things about this year’s event is that participants can take part from anywhere in the world and complete the event in their own way – just as long as all 26.2 miles are completed on Sunday 3 October 2021. Find out more about the event and how to apply to take part for the College.

Fantastic response to Giving Day!

We were so thrilled about how our wonderful community came together to support Goodenough Global Giving Day – and what success we had!

So many of you took part and in such a wide range of ways, from joining us for two extraordinary Port Talks; watching one of our brand new videos via our social media channels; sharing your own memories; or even liking (on social media) the excellent combination of flares and long hair in the throwback 1970s G-Bar!

As we celebrated everything the College stands for, we were also raising vital funds for the College’s Scholarship programme. This programme has a tremendous impact in ensuring the College community remains truly representative of those from all backgrounds, irrespective of their means.

We were thrilled, therefore, that we exceeded expectations and raised an incredible £117,992.47. Your donations and engagement unlocked £50,000 in Match Funding and almost £12,000 in Challenge Funding (read more in our Impact Report). A sincere thank you to over 300 donors who generously made their gift on Goodenough Global Giving Day!

“Together, you have ensured that ten future Scholars will benefit from life enhancing educational opportunities and the transformational Goodenough experience. Thank you for coming together as a community to achieve this.”
Hannah Du Gray, Director of Development and External Relations

We could not have achieved this without the support of so many Alumni who helped propel the success of this initiative. First, thanks go to our Board of Trustees who all gave for the second time this year, our Governors, the Board and Committee Members of the LGAC, and a number of Alumni and friends who donated significant sums to create the Match Fund and Challenge Funds for the Day.

We are also immensely grateful to the 62 brilliant Ambassadors who played such an enormous role in the success of the Day through sharing content, making their own gifts and encouraging others to get involved. Congratulations particularly to Jerry Dawson (LH 1989-1992) who came top of the leader board, having shared news of the Day a fantastic 250 times. Jerry lived in London House for three years while studying for his ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification with PwC and many of you will have enjoyed some excellent snaps shared by Jerry from his time there! It was great to see so many celebrating the experience of our Alumni and all that Goodenough College represents today and in the future.

Thank you again to everyone who took part. You have helped us fund ten full Scholarships for Goodenough Members, which is truly incredible.
