Hotel, short-stay and sublet accommodation

We are always delighted when members of our Alumni community book to stay at the College when they come to visit London. If you are considering a trip in the future, there are a range options on offer, including the Goodenough Hotel London, as well as short-stay and sabbatical rooms/suites inside the College itself. Because availability and rates vary considerably according to the time of year and number of vacant rooms, we recommend that you contact our Reservations team to find out more and to book your stay.  They can be contacted on  +44 (0) 20 7837 8888 or reservations@goodenough.ac.uk.

As an Alum, there is a 15% discount when booking any of these options, and, as we are a charity, when you book direct all profits from your stay at the Hotel or in College will go towards providing Members with our unique learning experience, as well as supporting our scholarships programme.  To obtain the Alumni discount code please email alumni@goodenough.ac.uk before booking.

Hotel bookings – securing the best possible discount

With bookings for the Goodenough Hotel, there are a few occasions when Alumni will see seasonal market-driven discounts on particular rooms (usually with strict limiting conditions) that means that the price for that room for a period of time may be cheaper than with the Alumni discount. Before making a booking we recommend that you explore the Hotel website without inputting the Alumni code to see any live seasonal offers.

The Hotel has recently reviewed its Alumni offer and in addition to the 15% discount, the offer to all Alumni now includes a complimentary Full English Breakfast, complimentary Room Upgrade (subject to availability), an early Check In or late Check Out (subject to availability) and free cancellation within 24 hours prior to Check In.  This means that the Alumni discount package will almost always represent best overall value, even when the Hotel has a temporary special discount rate available. Our Hotel reservations team will, of course, be happy to alert Alumni to any alternative discounts available, if they would prefer that over the new Alumni package. Using commercial sites: The Hotel cannot always guarantee that the Alumni discount will not be beaten by special discounts devised and advertised by commercial sites, which may offer their own loyalty (and other) discounts that we cannot always follow. If you are using online hotel booking sites please bear in mind that they take a significant commission from the Hotel (booking.com takes 18% of the revenue on every booking it secures). With this in mind, Alumni who are choosing to stay at the Hotel in order to support the College might prefer to book direct with us.

Using the sublets scheme

Another possible option is renting a room directly from a current Member.  Apart from Members’ friends and family, the sublets scheme is exclusively available to our Alumni community and is a very cost effective way to stay in central London, whilst also helping out the Members directly.  All current sublet listings are available to view by signing up to our online Alumni site Goodenough Global. Once you have registered, the details can be found under the ‘Alumni Accommodation’ tab and the list is updated regularly, so it’s worth checking back to see if your dates come up.

Sabbatical Fellowships

The College offers accommodation each academic year to a small number of Sabbatical Fellows for periods from three to twelve months. These may be visiting academics at London institutions, post-doctoral Research Fellows or other specialist academic researchers. Accommodation is provided in one-bedroom flats or double ensuite rooms, and rents are set according to ability to pay. Those successfully applying for places as Sabbatical Fellows are selected because they add real interest and value to our community during their residence. Some come to the College through our established partnerships with global academic institutions. Others simply approach us direct. While in residency, Sabbatical Fellows are eligible to participate in – and, importantly, asked to contribute as appropriate to – Member activities, including the Dean’s Programme.
