Investing in Goodenough

Goodenough College – founded in 1931 – continues to represent diversity, openness, and tolerance in their highest forms. The vision of our Founder, Frederick Goodenough, remains: to establish a postgraduate residential College with the intention to improve international understanding and harmony.

“When my Great-Grandfather founded Goodenough College in 1931, his enduring aim was to foster a spirit of internationalism in the heart of London’s Bloomsbury: a vision that is as vital today as it was 90 years ago.”

Sir William Goodenough BT, Current Governor

Our Founder, Frederick Crauford Goodenough

2020 was a landmark year for Goodenough College. It marked 90 years since the signing of the founding document for the Trust, which is Goodenough College today. Following this, 2021 marked the 70th anniversary of the launch of the Fundraising Campaign to build William Goodenough House.

These milestones represent a special opportunity to engage with and support the College and we are looking to secure philanthropic support for a number of important initiatives, which will help us expand our offering and develop further the unique character of the College. The support that will advance our fundamental priorities falls under two main areas:

  • £2.5m investment to support students from all backgrounds to live at the College, and specifically to increase socio-economic diversity at the College;
  • £2.5m investment to expand our historic estate, which will enable more international postgraduate students to join our inclusive community.
