Nestled in the heart of the historic Bloomsbury district, The Goodenough Hotel, London is a sophisticated 65 bedroom luxury hotel steeped in history dating back to the 19th century. Set within five Bloomsbury Georgian townhouses, The Goodenough offers a peaceful sanctuary a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of London life. The Goodenough is owned and operated by Goodenough College, an educational charity supporting postgraduate international students, and the hotel plays a major role in the financial stability of the College.

The Hotel seeks an Operations Manager who will be responsible for delivering all operational activities to ensure the Hotel and College Short Stay business runs efficiently and smoothly to achieve the best customer experience for its guests. The successful candidate will have substantial hotel experience at managerial level with strong line management capabilities. Candidates applying would also have managed outsourced services and have knowledge of relevant hospitality best practices.

The Operations Manager will work closely with the Revenue and Reservations Manager, in support of the new Hotel General and Marketing Manager (which is also currently being recruited).

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing standard operational procedures, ensuring these are followed by the Hotel Reception team to ensure a seamless customer journey.
  • Managing housekeeping and catering contracts and operations, identifying service improvements for review.
  • Monitoring and analysing guest satisfaction surveys and reviews, dealing with complaints promptly and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Providing strong line management and leadership to a diverse Hotel team to deliver outstanding hospitality and maintaining service standards, implementing effective management practices such as creating a cost-effective weekly roster.
  • Working to promote and increase revenue opportunities.

Please read the full job description for further information regarding the role and the person specifications. This role requires flexibility in working across the seven day, 24 hour operation of the Hotel with regular weekend and late/early shifts.

This role attracts a salary of £45,000 per annum, free meals when on shift, 26.5 days’ annual leave, additional days for Christmas, pension contributions, income protection, life assurance and discounted stays and gym membership.
