Meet the Members

Our resident Members form an engaged community of the brightest international minds.

Goodenough College has helped my studies in terms of location, barely 10 minutes away from classes; the Library, a great place to do my work; and the fantastic facilities, all helping me to stay as stress-free as possible.

We were delighted by the warmth and energy of the place. It didn’t feel like a hall in the least, and now it`s hard to imagine living anywhere else. The community has been outstanding. All the other parents have been so generous. This is especially appreciated without our families around. We think that baby Rowan will benefit from this too; having friends from every corner of the world will be amazing for him.

There are fantastic facilities for musicians, such as practice rooms and recital spaces, a luxury in London. I have also seen many concerts from the College’s box at the Royal Albert Hall.

Goodenough is a fantastic place for meeting people from different disciplines. I have found myself discussing my scientific research with economists, literature students, lawyers and musicians. This diversity means that life is very stimulating, and an incredibly useful experience. It forces me to take a step back and discuss the bigger picture, which in turn, helps me to refine my research ideas.
We’re lucky to have so many great places to study at Goodenough. If I need a change of scenery from my flat, the library is a very quiet and peaceful place to work. If the weather’s nice, it’s great to work outside in the Fountain Quad or the Garden. My husband and I feel very much at home at Goodenough.

Goodenough is one of four student residences in London I have stayed in during my graduate studies (MSc and PhD) and it is simply the best!
It provides a comfortable environment for studying and relaxing, and I’ve felt safe living here. There are also lots of intellectual activities: talks, cultural events, outings across the UK.
Living in this kind of international academic community means I have a better appreciation for different cultures. It’s given me a wider view and deeper understanding of the world.

I chose Goodenough for many reasons. It is safe and busy with different kinds of activities and events, with a huge number of clubs and societies. It has a diverse student community, excellent facilities and a prime central location, right in the heart of Bloomsbury.
It’s not a typical student hall; it’s much more than that. It’s a residential college and the diversity and the sense of community of its Members makes it unique.

I chose Goodenough specifically because it is like a safe space in the hustle and bustle of the city and you get to meet people from so many different walks of life, or so many different experiences and at Goodenough you really feel like you have a community within London.
