Jan Clarke

Bursar at The Burn

As Bursar for The Burn, Jan Clarke is responsible for all aspects of running the College’s Scottish estate and leads the team in developing a sustainable business, offering a retreat for academics and students and a holiday venue to visitors. All guests enjoy high standards of hospitality and access to a beautiful unspoilt landscape.

Jan has a wealth of experience of senior leadership in estate management, heritage and conservation. Her career has taken her across the UK as CEO of charitable trusts protecting historic buildings, gardens and landscapes, building financial success across a spectrum of commercial activities.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sunderland University and studied practical conservation at the Buildings Craft College in London and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Historic Environment Conservation from the Ironbridge Institute.

Her interests include nature conservation, photography and creative writing.
