Goodenough College is London’s finest international postgraduate residential community and an educational charity. The College welcomes Members from over 95 countries and a range of socioeconomic backgrounds, who are studying all sorts of subjects – from bioengineering to opera performance – in many of the city's best universities and colleges.

Our diverse community is what sets us apart and our Members bring their enthusiasm, skills and experience to College life, ensuring that the College continues to create and nurture a diverse and talented network of global citizens.

With rising living costs, providing support to students in financial need is now more important than ever. With your support, we can ensure we are able to welcome exceptional students, regardless of their financial situation – helping them to fulfil their dreams of studying in London. The recipients of our Scholarships come from all sorts of cultures and backgrounds and bring with them fresh ways of thinking, helping us to create a truly diverse community that benefits all our Members.

Julius Ocen

Julius' story

I was born in a rural district of Lira, now Amolatar, in the war-ravaged region of Uganda. I come from the community that has a limited access to education – there are barely any university graduates over there. My parents always struggled to put food on the table. My first job was at the age of 10, fetching water for local construction sites. I have worked hard ever since to relieve pressure from my family.

Throughout my academic career, I have consistently demonstrated my commitment to academic excellence. As a result, I have received several awards and accolades for outstanding academic achievement and for exceptional community service. My scholarship has lifted a significant financial burden, and I am now able to focus on my studies without worrying about the cost of accommodation and other expenses.

The generosity of donors who invested in my education will not be wasted. When I succeed, I promise to give another Scholar an opportunity similar to the one I received.
