Sabbatical Fellowships

The College offers accommodation each academic year to a small number of Sabbatical Fellows for periods from three to twelve months. These may be visiting academics at London institutions, post-doctoral Research Fellows or other specialist academic researchers. Accommodation is provided in one-bedroom flats or double en suite rooms, and rents are set according to ability to pay.

We are looking for individuals who are able to add real interest and value to our community during their residence. Some come to the College through our established partnerships with global academic institutions. Others simply approach us direct. While in residency, Sabbatical Fellows are eligible to participate in – and, importantly, asked to contribute as appropriate to – Member activities, including the Dean’s Programme. All are welcome to apply but priority will be given to those who haven’t benefitted from living at Goodenough previously.

If you believe you can add real interest and value to the College community as a Sabbatical Fellow, please contact us via sabbaticalfellows@goodenough.ac.uk, setting out relevant information such as your area of study, any academic position to which you have been appointed in London, and what value you think you can bring to College life. Please also include the proposed duration of your stay and details of existing financial support for your period in residence.

Goodstart Fellowships for Alumni

The Goodstart Fellowship programme (2025-26), is a new initiative created and funded by one of our Alumni to enable other Goodenough Alumni to make a real difference in their communities. If you have a plan to make an improvement to the well-being of your community, and the skills and connections to deliver it, a GoodStart Fellowship may help you to get started. Grants range from $20,000 to $50,000 (renewable for up to two years). Look out for details of how to apply.
