Bloomsbury is home to some of the capital’s most famous landmarks, as well as a range of academic institutions, restaurants, cafes and entertainments.
The British Library, one of the world’s finest and largest libraries, and The British Museum – a popular tourist destination for students from across the globe – are within easy walking distance.
Bloomsbury also hosts the Bloomsbury Festival, an annual celebration of the area’s creativity, presenting an inspiring programme of events. As one of the Festival’s official venues, Goodenough College hosts a music event which gives our Member musicians an opportunity to showcase their talent to a wider audience.
Bloomsbury is one of London’s greenest areas, with many parks and gardens in easy reach. Besides Mecklenburgh Square Gardens, the College is a few minutes away from Coram’s Fields, a seven-acre playground and park for children and young people living in or visiting London. It includes a Youth Centre, Children’s Centre, Community Nursery, Sports Programme, city farm and a café.
Just a 30-minute walk from Bloomsbury, you’ll find the West End, which is home to many of London’s theatres, showing world-class plays, musicals, comedies, and dance shows. Round the corner from the West End is Chinatown, famous for authentic Chinese cuisine and markets. Those looking to experience London’s vibrant nightlife are in easy reach of Soho, with the iconic Carnaby Street and Ronnie Scott’s jazz club, as well as trendy Shoreditch, known for its vibrant street art, dynamic art scene, fashionable bars, and alternative atmosphere.
Even closer to home, near King’s Cross station, is Coal Drop’s Yard, London’s newest boutique shopping and foodie hotspot, where Victorian heritage and breath-taking architecture are on display in an extraordinary canal side setting.
