New scholarship for a student from Africa
Goodenough College and King’s College London (KCL) are delighted to announce the creation of a new scholarship, the ‘King’s College-Goodenough Scholarship’, for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The new scholarship, which will cover up to 50 weeks’ accommodation within Goodenough’s award-winning collegiate community, is open to postgraduate students from the African continent who are studying at King’s, with priority awarded to those on courses at King’s prestigious African Leadership Centre (ALC).
Shitij Kapur, Vice Chancellor of KCL, explained: “We are delighted to work with Goodenough College to offer this opportunity to one of our African postgraduate students. Living at Goodenough will give the new Scholar access to a warm and supportive international community, unrivalled opportunities to make global connections and develop an understanding of other cultures, and the opportunity to take part in a wide range of intellectual, social and cultural activities. I have no doubt that the Scholar will add further to the diversity of thought and background at Goodenough and benefit greatly from living in a truly international community.”
Alice Walpole, Director of Goodenough College, added: “Goodenough has a proud tradition of nurturing and supporting talent from all over the world, regardless of background and circumstances. We are especially pleased to be working with King’s as we share a strong commitment to helping to develop the next generation of decision-makers and opinion-formers – global citizens with the ability and commitment to improve lives locally, nationally and internationally.
“Our partnership with King’s gives us jointly the opportunity to support an exceptional student who will return to their country after their studies and make a real difference.”
