Goodenough College, based in Bloomsbury, offers welcoming accommodation and a lively community to approximately 700 international post-graduate students and their families. The College’s charitable aim is to create a stimulating and inclusive intellectual environment for its residents through a well-planned programme of lectures, dinners, concerts and social activities.
The College is currently looking for an experienced and proactive PA to the College Director.
This role requires strong minute‑taking with proactive follow‑up on action points, alongside the ability to draft clear and accurate correspondence, reports and short discussion documents within tight given deadlines. Governance is a significant part of the role, including preparing, collating and issuing Board papers in a timely manner and providing high‑quality support to the Board of Trustees. The postholder will also support and initiate activities for the College Director, including organising faculty dinners and the College Director’s lunches and breakfasts with guests. A high level of confidentiality and discretion is essential in all aspects of the role.
This role oversees one staff member and leads a busy, friendly front office team in maintaining a professional, welcoming College work environment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supervising and attending some College events.
This role requires on site presence four days a week.
Person Specification
- Extensive PA or senior admin experience, including high proficiency in minute-taking and demonstrated ability to draft a wide variety of correspondence with minimal supervision
- Proven experience supporting governance activity including preparing, collating and issuing Board or committee papers in good time
- A calm, can-do attitude and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication and organisational skills
- Excellent MS Office knowledge
- Confidence handling sensitive information with discretion
- Willingness to organise, host and attend occasional evening events/meetings
- (Desirable) Proven line management experience
