College Trustee

HH Deborah Taylor joined Goodenough College as a Trustee in March 2026.

Following a distinguished career as a Senior Circuit Judge, Resident Judge at Southwark Crown Court and Recorder of Westminster Deborah retired from the Judiciary in December 2022.

In recent years Deborah has served as Treasurer of Inner Temple (2022), where she advocated for greater diversity at the Bar. She also acted as Chair of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (2023-2025), dealing with doctors’ fitness to practise; and as Chair of the Criminal Legal Aid Advisory Board (2023-2026), providing independent advice to the Lord Chancellor on the operation and structure of criminal legal aid.

Since 2025 Deborah has chaired the major statutory inquiry into the deaths of Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates in Nottingham in 2023. The Nottingham Inquiry, which is due to report in 2027, will examine the events that led up to the attacks and review how they were handled by authorities on the day and in the aftermath.

Deborah is also a trustee of Shakespeare’s Globe.
