The Sunflower scheme supporting hidden disabilities

We are delighted to share that Goodenough College has officially joined the Sunflower Scheme, a widely recognised initiative that enables individuals to discreetly signal that they have a non-visible disability and may require additional support, patience, or understanding.

By joining the Sunflower Scheme, we are reaffirming our commitment to be inclusive, respectful and responsive to individual needs. Even small actions can have a meaningful impact, and collectively we can help ensure that everyone feels seen, respected, and supported.

We are especially pleased that this initiative extends across our wider organisation. The Goodenough Hotel has also become a member, alongside Goodenough House, our dedicated events and hospitality business. Together, we are embedding a shared culture of awareness and empathy across all guest, student, and event experiences.

What this means:

A Member, visitor, or colleague may choose to wear a sunflower lanyard, badge, or wristband. This is a discreet signal that they may:

  • Need more time or patience
  • Benefit from clearer communication
  • Require adjustments to usual processes
  • Experience anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or other non-visible conditions

Where to collect a lanyard

Sunflower lanyards can be obtained from London House and William Goodenough House receptions.
