Goodenough College is an education charity, providing accommodation to international postgraduate students (we call them Members) and their families. The College is situated on two sites across a picturesque London Square. It offers a variety of accommodation options from shared single rooms, ensuite rooms and family flats, alongside grand halls, libraries, and common rooms.

The College also owns the 4-star boutique Goodenough Hotel, located nearby, which conducts commercial activities to generate income. The financial returns from the Hotel directly support the College’s charitable mission, helping to encourage and assist the education of its Members.

The College is recruiting a Housekeeping Operations Manager to oversee and supervise the outsourced housekeeping team. This role focuses on delivering high standards, ensuring efficient operations and maintaining excellent services at all times.

Some key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide joint supervision of outsourced Housekeeping Managers and Supervisors with relevant internal management.
  • Schedule services to meet College and Hotel needs.
  • Monitor service delivery and KPIs via audits and reviews; escalate issues as necessary.
  • Manage resources and staffing to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate smooth collaboration and communication between internal College stakeholders and subcontracted providers, such as window cleaning, linen, and waste services.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of housekeeping staff to ensure a stable and high performing team.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day contact for housekeeping matters between the College, contractor, and internal stakeholders, attending relevant meetings to provide updates and reports on operational performance.

 Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in managing housekeeping in corporate, hotel, healthcare, education or mix residential environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning standards and industry best practices.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership and contractor management experience.
  • Personnel management and performance monitoring expertise.

In addition, you will be someone who approaches tasks methodically, able to identify and resolve issues efficiently as they arise. You are a clear, articulate and confident communicator, able to engage easily with others and have the determination and energy to follow-up with tasks through to completion. You are also someone who can quickly adjust to changing work priorities to ensure high standards and service are consistently maintained. You are also flexible, recognising that Housekeeping services operate 365 days a year, and you are willing to adapt your approach and working patterns to meet operational needs.

The College is offering a salary of £55,000 per annum for this position.
