“Life at Goodenough is brimming with inspiring experiences. It’s a privilege to be offered a truly global education – in every sense of the word.”
I come from Brisbane, Australia, and I’m studying Bio-Integrated Design at UCL.
I moved into Goodenough College in September 2025, and although I haven’t been here long, I’ve already experienced incredible opportunities that I couldn’t have had anywhere else.
One highlight so far was attending a Port Talk with Dr. David Sun Kong on How Synthetic Biology Will Change the Frontiers of Creativity, Learning, and Design—a topic deeply connected to my interests. Being in the same room with such a world-class academic, to ask him questions directly, and establish in-person connection with him was invaluable. What was also incredibly inspiring was that the event was organised by a fellow Member. In the past, I worked on organising events and panel discussions in a contemporary art gallery context. Even though my current studies take me in a different direction, it feels enriching to have a platform here to exercise that skill again.
As someone naturally curious and drawn to multidisciplinary subjects – my undergraduate degrees were in both Bioinformatics and Art History – I find Goodenough the perfect environment to meet people from diverse fields. Just recently, I sat next to a group of Members studying Climate Finance at Freddie’s – something far afield from my own studies. We ended up in a long conversation, exchanging ideas and speculations, and I was reminded that it is such a privilege afforded by this place to acquire a global (in all senses of the word) education. This is something that happens every single day!
Life at Goodenough is brimming with inspiring experiences – from Dean’s Trips and Royal Albert Hall concerts, enjoyed from the College’s private box, to garden volunteering and thought-provoking Port Talks.
