Activities, events and experiences
Living at Goodenough College gives you opportunities to enhance your studies, make friends and expand your horizons by taking part in a diverse range of intellectual, cultural, social and sports activities. Our unrivalled programme of free events delivers around 300 academic lectures, seminars, concerts and recitals, and 200 sporting and wellbeing activities and experiences, every year.

Living at Goodenough College gives College Members many opportunities to enhance their studies through a diverse range of academic, intellectual, social, cultural, and sports activities and events.
Our free events programme delivers around 300 academic lectures, seminars, concerts and recitals and 200 sporting and wellbeing activities each year. Specific examples include faculty dinners, Port Talks (lectures from expert speakers), special interest weeks such as Black History Month, Pride and Mental Health Week, volunteer initiatives, networking opportunities, interfaith events and skills weeks. We also offer special subsidised activities, such as the Dean’s Seminars and Colloquia, held around the UK and Europe.
The events programme is aided by our Fellows (65 distinguished academics and experts) and our Alumni (who participate in a mentoring and skills programme to support Members to transition into careers).
Besides the College-run events programme, we provide £45,000 per year to fund around 50 Member-led clubs and societies – encouraging Members to collaborate, share their interests, and help shape the College’s social life.
To ensure that the College includes the very brightest and best students, and those who have the potential to contribute to and enhance College life, we choose our Members through a competitive application process. So, when you are offered a place, you can be sure that you will be joining a vibrant, safe and friendly community of talented individuals from different cultures, backgrounds and disciplines.
